About a week ago I posted the below. It has been updated a couple times to include additional information for veterans. Today, I am expanding the information on the Office of Special Counsel (OSC) because requests for assistance from veterans are increasing and groups should become aware of USERRA.
****
Currently we are receiving a high rate of veteran requests for all types of assistance.
For whistleblower retaliation, tax payer fraud and employment discrimination, WhistleWatch.org will listen and refer veterans to qualified legal counsel. There is no charge for consultation. A confidential request for help may be filed by clicking the “Help & Safe Harbor” button. Should you or a loved one need assistance, please feel free to send an email to info@whistlewatch.org. Our organization is honored to help veterans.
Veterans in crisis should be aware of these hotlines:
- Veterans Affairs Suicide Hotline: 1-800-273-TALK (8255)
- Mental Health and Traumatic Brain Injury Hotline: 1-866-966-1020
- National Call Center for Homeless Veterans: 1-877-4AID VET (1-877-424-3838)
The D.C. Office of Veterans Affairs is located at 441 4th Street, NW, Suite 570 South, Washington, DC 20001. Phone: (202) 724-5454. However, State or local resources may be better suited to addressing a range of veterans’ needs. The National Military Family Association (www.militaryfamily.org) provides information and resources. Please check State and local listings in your telephone directory, call 211 or run a search on the internet.
Lastly, the Office of Special Counsel (OSC) is always available to veterans @www.osc.gov
Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (Veterans’ Rights)
OSC protects the civilian employment and reemployment rights of military veterans and members of the Guard and Reserve by enforcing the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA). For more information about our USERRA program, click here.
